Cricket Guru: IPL

SRK, KKR, Ganguly, Hate Mail and the Fake IPL Player
Pitched By Cricket360 Insider

As though it was not enough that Shah Rukh Khan was getting hate mail from irate Bengalis who were taking the replacement of Sourav Ganguly as captain of the Kolkata team, there is now an anonymous blogger who is writing scurrilous ‘insider’ information about the Kolkata team. With thinly veiled often vulgar, even obscene nick names for players and others associated with the IPL, this person claims to be part of the KKR entourage and witness to all that goes on in the team.

It seems that team KKR is never ever out of the cricket news and this time it is for something really weird that has put it smack dab in the middle of cricket controversy. A blogger who goes by the name of Fake IPL player, and who claims to know everything about the IPL, especially stuff that has nothing to do with actual cricket is writing posts that is getting thousands upon thousands of hits, to say nothing of hundreds of comments, which is what defines the success of a blog in blogosphere terms.

The tone of the writing is mocking, nick names given are sometimes clever or witty, (Kishen Kanhaiya for Ravi Shastri and Lord Almighty for Sourav Ganguly) and some which are disrespectful and rude some that are positively vile and abusive. recent post on the blog is about supposed bets between commentators as to who will ‘bed’ a famous Bollywood beauty and team owner. Supposedly count is also being kept of how much female company each of the commentators will enjoy which also has money riding on it.

The writer claims to write as a player of the team with posts such as ‘We play today’ or ‘I love match days’ and has claimed that there is a huge hunt on to identify the ‘poison pen’. However Joy Bhattacharya, CEO, Knight Riders, has been reported in the cricket news as having said, "There is a blogspot which a team member showed me this morning (April 19) which purports to be from a member of the KKR entourage. Poison pen writing of the dirtiest variety, but far too many factual errors. Whoever it is out there is obviously very sick, perverted and has far too little information or insight to successfully pretend to be a part of us."

The content of the blog is distinctly of a gutter variety, but the writing quality is not bad. The English is fine in terms of syntax, grammar and spelling. One wonders is King Khan is really in the dark about this mystery blogger. The crafty showman that Shah Rukh is, one really would not put it past him to actually know a bit more than he is letting on about this and actually give it is tacit approval because of the publicity is it bringing him and his team, and you know what they say in Showbiz, ‘No publicity is bad publicity!’ So bring it on Fake IPL Player!
